Hi Everyone,

I just got home from work and what did I find in my mailbox? My moly. I didn't even take off my shoes or jacket; I just opened the package right up and found my lovely moly wrapped like a little present from Sharon! (Gorgeous card, by the way.)

The entries are incredible - I couldn't be happier! It is amazing to see them in person!

I counted the pages and there are 14.5 available and 7 people, so I think that it might work for another round, with approximately 2.07142857 pages per person :)

I think that most people have expressed interest in another round? So, to whom shall I send it on once I finish my entry?

Hi Everyone

I have two molys which will be posted tomorrow - Carolinas and Alicjas. I have had to repair Alicja's as where the cutouts were, some had torn in the post, but I think they are OK now. Can I ask that everyone makes sure that their packing is secure and has sticky tape all the way round as the last one I received was open and it was lucky that the moleskine notebook hadn't fallen out!!

I just want to make sure everyone knows where their book is and keep track of these entries as we go along. I've been in far too many groups that fell apart or lost books, I would hate to see that happen hear since we have such a good bunch.

Starting from the top and working it's way down (for people viewing that aren't part of our group)...Karo, Sharon, Alicja, Ben, Kelley and Jose's book is off to the right with the cool vertical format.

Alicja has mailed off Karo's book to Sharon as well. Karo, you should be getting Ben's book along with mine shortly.

Karo currently has Alicja's and Sharon's books, so I'm afraid she may be overwhelmed...I've sent her an email when I realized she would now be holding most our books to see if she'd like to pass any on for the time being or needs any help...I'll wait to hear from her and keep you all informed.

I know it gets tough trying to catch up when you keep getting multiple books...no worries guys, once we get this squared away it will run smoothly again. Karo, if you do already have the books...just send them off one at a time - no pressure...we want to make sure the next person in line doesn't end up with the same problems.

Like in my email, if you need anything at all just let me know.

Here is Ben's moly - it took me a while to figure out where to go next. I decided to keep going with the previous theme of Snow White and I added the evil queen (my version of her, anyway). I made a photocopy of the previous page, reversed it, shrunk it and pasted it in for the mirror. Enjoy!

Okay, so I seem to be wearing my detective hat at the moment because I can't seem to locate who has a few of our books in this crazy rotation. Sorry for the confusion everyone, when we originally lost Pilar, I thought we needed to add someone in her place...and then boom! we got two additions, Karo and Vicki. Vicki never made it to her first entry but Karo was able to get her entry in and pass along her book. Now, I'm finding that because we changed rotation order a couple times...we have books that haven't made an appearance in a while. So I'm going on a moly hunt.

Going down the line, book by book, please let me know if you have anything to add, any detail helps. For instance if you mailed a book, let me know if you received confirmation that it arrived.

Sharon's moly: is here with me, I'm just waiting on a response from her before sending it out. Sharon, let me know if you want it back for a second entry or to send it to Karo as she is the only one left to make an entry.

Jose's moly: is with Ben waiting to go out in the mail, he's just waiting on an address to mail to.

I have an email out to Alicja, I know we lost her for a bit in her move, but she mentioned she was back and would be working on a moly that she had been holding on to. Only problem is, I can't figure out who's book that was.

Both Karo and I also moved this summer, which has put a bit of a disruption in our moly movement but I think we should all be back in the swing of things real soon. Who knew the packing and unpacking of boxes was so tiring and disruptive to your ENTIRE life??

Hi guys, I was sitting here trying to stay organized and was hoping you can help me keep things running smoothly by looking to the sidebar at the right.

I've added a section called "who has MY moly??" to help keep track of when things were mailed or who's book is in your possession. When we lost Pilar and gained Vicki and Karo, it got a little confusing for all of us, I think. So I was hoping we can do a little shout out and let everyone know where the books are. I'm going to update it as best I can with your comments and remarks...but if you don't see your name to the right, please edit it. All you have to do is click on the little screwdriver/wrench and erase what's there or add something new. Easy-peasy :)

Well this is my entry for Alicja's i'm a figurative person so the fact of cut out the pin-up silouette wasn't an option for me, then i decided to invert the technique of Alicja. In other way i try to continue the wash watercolor in the last entry to make it uniform and of course the theme of the school pin-up, I draw a librarian lady with a nasty boy looking at her, Hope you enjoy it! A little bit of lace, a little bit of mystery. Inspired by Alicja photocopy transfer, I decided to do some for a colorful lace background. I have been wanting to do something with lace for a while now and this theme felt like the perfect excuse. Well hope you like it. It only needs it envelope and it's going to see Alicja.

Hi All,

I just finished my addition to Sharon's book. I went with the outdoor idea and put a bit of a fun twist on it. I hope you like it! The technique I tried for the image of the girl this time is a photocopy transfer of a photograph that I took. The rest is just micronpens and pencil crayons. You basically get a black and white photocopy of an image (the crappier the photocopier, the better the outcome it seems) and then using a Chartpak blender marker you transfer the image to your surface. The marker is nice because the liquid is contained in an easy pen, but you can achieve the same effect using a cottonball and some isopropyl alcohol. Once you cover the whole image with the liquid, use something hard (like a credit card or the back of a spoon) to make sure that the image actually transfers.

This one is off to Ben again!

New Mailing Order

Hey Guys...I think I have this figured out, but please if you have a better suggestions, don't hesitate to tell me I've screwed up :P

Since we have two new players in our moly game, I wanted to make sure that no one is overwhelmed with too many books while someone else is sitting around with nothing. At the same time, I didn't want people close together geographically having to send it back and forth when they can mail closer to home :)

So here is my new suggestion to incorporate our two recent additions:
Victoria will now be mailing to Sharon.
Sharon you will now mail to Karo.
Karo will be mailing to Alicja.
Alicja you will continue to mail to Ben.
Ben is mailing to Jose.
Jose will continue mailing to me.
And I will start mailing to Victoria.

Does that seem to make sense to everyone?? I just figured that since I was still waiting for Jose's book to get here, and it looks like Alicja and Sharon are both about to mail...this might be the simplest solution. Feel free to tell me other wise though :)

Victoria I will email you with Sharon's address, and Alicja I will email you Karo's just as soon as I get it. If you mailed your book out already, no worries, maybe we'll play with the order and have Karo mail to you instead :) Not to confuse you guys or anything LOL.

Just a little about myself: I am a high school art instructor. I have been teaching for 19 years so I am sure I am much older than most of you. I am 43. I have a wonderful husband and a daughter who is in the army and a son still in high school.

Most of my art is realistic and I am really drawn to values, textures and colors. As an instructor I don't often have time to create art for me, usually I am helping someone else. But I recently started a blog to document my creations and stumbled upon the moleskine exchanges. Just to keep everyone updated, when I found out Pilar could not longer stay on :( I started looking through groups I'm involved in or have been following and I sent out about four emails to people. Most of the people were just too busy and couldn't add another exchange, but this morning I got an email back from Karo-Design that she'd like to join as well. So unless there is any objections, I'll add both of these lovely artists to the group, add a little artistic diversity :)

Finally, I am posting my submission. I had a really hard time finding a theme to go with.
Then, I flipped through some of my Elvgren books and decided that I could work with integrating a bit of myself into the work.
I am a teacher, so I focused in on Elvgren's teacher image. Then I cut out where the pin-up would actually be. I cut it out and made it into almost a silhouette. The cutout is in the back pocket, in case anyone wants it for this or any other purpose.
I thought that people could try to interpret what they do for a living or a hobby through the pin-up theme. But really, it doesn't matter what you do - I am open to things being cut out, added in or sculptural, or anything you like! There are no boundaries!

Ben, she mentioned in her email that you had trouble sending your book to her in Colombia, but that she's in Buenos Aires now...and am I understanding right? You can't get it to her there either?? Why don't you go ahead and send to Jose, since he's next in line. Did you get your book back from the post office?? Keep me posted and we'll sort this out.

Group members...what are your thoughts, shall we try to find a replacement for Pilar or shall we just leave the group short a person? I'm open to suggestions. Hey guys-gals, here is the entry finally. Might polish a bit more the background but its gonna be like this.

You see I did it vertical-upside down, my idea was to do something like a flat where every pin-up is after the other in her room/balcony whatever,

Hi everyone, i just finish my sign in page and my entry.

This is my sign in page, I just one to make something fun about our theme, i know pin-up don't includes men portraits, but if that was i know iculdn't be a model for this anyway, that's why i make a ridiculous pic of mine pretending been part of the theme. Hope you like or dislike it, for that it is ;)

And this one is my entry, I think in a subtheme in the theme if you want to follow it you're welcome, and if you don't i don't care do what you wish that's great too.

I drew a Red riding hood climbing in a tree, but when i finish her i feel the necessity of drawing another character, but the problem then was, I draw the wolf or the woodman who rescue her, so I make a woodman that seems like a wolf, the situation become funny to me, i enjoy so much to finish that idea and there it is, hope you like it!

Maybe the next week I'll delivery it now I have some thesis work to do!

Well, here's my first pin-up. Hope it's what we're supposed to be doing. Some years ago I photographed and produced a nude calendar for Cancer Research, so I took my pin up from one of the photos - Miss August, if I remember correctly! I may "tweak" it a bit before sending it on - can't quite decide.

Hi Everyone

I took up painting and drawing when I retired from teaching IT and Economics because of ill health!! To fill in time amongst my medical problems I went to Life Classes and loved it. I had always doodled, but now paint quite a lot - particularly flowers. My daughter in law, Jill Calder, is a successful commerical illustrator and put me on to the moleskine exchange. I am a member of Moly 59 and have just sent off my first Japanese fold, but have not received any yet - I'm really looking forward to it. I love the idea of the international exchange element of it.

My other hobby is training dogs to participate in Working Trials which are similar to police dog trials and I spend a couple of days a week in the fields with a like minded group of friends.

Looking forward to receiving and sending all your molys too if I can get the hang of this flickr site - I always seem to forget where to go!

Hi everyone, mmm now I fell a little guilty because of don't introduce myself!, I think I'm in debt with you! but well her I am.
My name is Benjamin I'm 27 years old and a Stage and costume designer graduate, I have a theater company with my best friends 5 years ago, principally we make theater and opera for kids and we enjoy it! Recently I found at flickr the moly exchange in the right moment, because I've bought a Moleskines and I don't know how to use the japanese exactly. I think it was destiny...
Since I was a child i draw and paint, I'm not an oficial illustrator but I think that maybe that would be the second thing i can do if i wasn't a stage designer.
Now I'm in three moly exchanges and looks like this is the most active of all, it's a curious
thing because it was the last one I take :p
I'm very ansioux to see what are you gonna do, i look foward to our exchange, it would be a great experience to share.

Hi All - I guess I should formally introduce myself :)

I'm Kelley. I'm an illustration graduate who is still trying to get that industry job. I work full time at a boring desk job I hate, but I have medical benefits and a paycheck...so you know, I just get back to work and mumble under my breath about how much I hate it. At the moment I'm only working free-lance as an illustrator...mostly small jobs for friends of friends and one up and coming video game company. That one's a bit off my norm, but I'm having fun and learning a lot!!

I'm 29 years old, live in Southern California with my boyfriend and am trying hard to make a living at making art! I love vintage things, especially the old fashioned pinup posters. My boyfriend gets a kick out of that I'm sure, but there's so much character and expression in those faces, a lot of what is missing from the models of today. Anyway, I've been wanting to do a pinup exchange for awhile and finally found a few people who were also interested so woo-hoo!! I can't wait to see what you all come up with.

Just a little extra info for all of you:

I've talked with Marty about what is allowed or acceptable in terms of posting to the groups forum. With Pinups, I wasn't sure if flickr, or the group, allowed nudity and I was concerned with if and how our entries would be displayed. After all the fun of these exchanges is sharing what you've come up with, with everyone else, right? From what I took away from our email conversation, you are free to do whatever you want here on the blog. However, like all postings to the International Moleskine Exchange, the administrators will have to approve your work for that photostream. So, in other words if you choose to go the more extreme term of pinup with boobies everywhere, you might not get showcased over on flickr, LOL - got it?? If I've confused any of you - please feel free to ask questions, I find sometimes I get overly excited and forget to include things :)

I can't wait to get started. I already have the address for Benjamin and I just sent mine to Sharon, so I'm all set from that end.
Here's a bit about me: I live in Canada, but am originally from Poland. I am a teacher at the University of Toronto. I love art, and I have missed it so much - I think I had artist's block - I just could not get myself to draw anything. Hence, I joined the moly exchange for that added extrinsic motivation. I figured if I were accountable to someone else, I would have to do the work!
I am also a jewellery/fashion accessories designer in my spare time. I sew my own clothes and do commission work for friends as well. Basically, I just like to keep my hands busy and get restless if I am not being crafty :)
Hopefully, this will be an amazing exchange - this is my first, so I am not sure exactly what to expect.

So it's official we're up and running here. And I apologize for the mix up, over on the flickr site I thought there was already a moly 68 and I put moly 69 - that was my error :) oh well, live and learn.

So I just thought I'd make up the first post so that everyone knows what to do...I'm not really sure how many newbies we have so ignore this if your a veteran to the exchanges :)

On the right hand side of our blog there you will see the list of every one's names...that will work as our mailing order as well....so what you might want to do is take a minute to email the person below you on the list and get their mailing address. You will ALWAYS mail to the same person to avoid confusion, so no worries about remembering multiple addresses :)

Anyway, feel free to get started on sign in pages, if you're going to have them and you can start your own entry. Maybe we can all make an initial introduction post so everyone can get to know each other. *wink wink**
